Her Art Prize 2025: Zhanna Kadyrova Becomes First Laureate

Zhanna Kadyrova, a prominent Ukrainian artist represented by Continua Gallery, has been awarded the prestigious Her Art Prize 2025. She received the accolade for her project Refugees, which poignantly documents the interiors of buildings damaged during the war.

About Her Art Prize

Her Art Prize, established in 2025 by Art Paris in collaboration with Marie Claire, a leading women's magazine, celebrates and supports women artists. The initiative is further supported by the luxury brand Boucheron.

This year, 12 talented women artists were nominated for the prize, including Sama Alshaibi, Maty Biayenda, Gillian Brett, Suzanne Husky, Oda Jaune, Zhanna Kadyrova, Mari Katayama, Evi Keller, Mathilde Rosier, Kiki Smith, Thu Van Tran, and Agnès Thurnauer.

As the winner, Kadyrova will receive €30,000. Moreover, Marie Claire and Art Paris will launch an international campaign to promote her work, amplifying her impact in the global art community.

About Zhanna Kadyrova

Born in 1981 in Brovary, Kyiv region, Ukraine, Zhanna Kadyrova is a multidisciplinary artist celebrated for her innovative approaches in sculpture, photography, video, and performance. She graduated from the Taras Shevchenko State Art School in 1999.

Kadyrova’s achievements include the Kazimir Malevich Artist Award and the Grand Prix of the Kyiv Sculpture Project in 2012, alongside several honors from PinchukArtCentre: the Special Prize in 2011, the Main Prize in 2013, and the Special Prize—Future Generation International in 2014.

In 2025, Kadyrova made history as the first woman in 20 years to win the Shevchenko Prize in Visual Arts for her project Flying Trajectories.

Additionally, in 2025, her work “Anxiety” was sold at the first auction held by the Ukrainian Fund of Digitized Art. The starting price of 6,500 USDC rose to 7,700 USDC, highlighting the strong demand among collectors for digitized art.
