The Ukrainian Fund of Digitized Art (UFDA) has officially concluded its Open Call for museums, art institutions, galleries, and independent artists, and the results are nothing short of extraordinary! With over 150 applications received, this initiative underscores the crucial role of digital preservation in safeguarding and sharing art. UFDA extends heartfelt gratitude to all participants for their trust and enthusiasm in embarking on this transformative journey.
Open Call in Numbers: Let’s Dive in!
The response to the Open Call was staggering, reflecting the widespread desire to preserve and digitize Ukrainian art. Over the course of nearly a month, UFDA received:
- 85 applications from independent artists, spanning a range of ages and styles.
- 55 applications from Ukrainian museums and institutions.
- 9 applications from private collectors eager to share their treasures.
- 7 applications from galleries.
- 2 applications from art centers.
In the applications, participants were asked to specify the number of artworks they intended to digitize with UFDA’s support. After meticulous calculations, the final tally was astonishing: over 240,000 artworks! This includes a mix of contemporary pieces, museum collections, and other significant works, highlighting the richness of Ukraine’s artistic heritage.
