Rostyslav Zavhorodnii's Famous Paintings: Union of Color and Form
The artist's works are created in the techniques of oil and acrylic painting, collage application, and hot enamel. Rostyslav Zavhorodnii's original paintings include pieces from the "Search for a Safe Place" series (2023) and "Sensitive Beings" series (2021-ongoing).
The works from the "Search for a Safe Place" series were created in an intuitive, experimental format based on the artist's own graphic sketches, drafts, and diagrams, without using collage materials traditionally employed by collagists, such as books, postcards, newspapers, or magazines.
The "Sensitive Beings" series is a kind of reflection on changes in the surrounding environment, the war, and the tension caused by uncertainty about what awaits us next. By imitating calmness and creating a sense of formal ambiguity in this series of works, the artist poses a question to both himself and the viewer: "What will come after?" The series includes figurative painting depicting plants, animals, and human figures that are transformed through the prism of the artist's personal vision.
Rostyslav Zavhorodnii's Art Style
In his artistic practice, Rostyslav explores the interaction between humans and the external environment. He combines elements such as form and color, paying particular attention to simple geometric outlines and how they interact with the main figure.
His color solutions are often based either on contrasting complementary colors or on a monochromatic approach to the image.
Rostyslav Zavhorodnii's main task as an artist is to create works in which color, rhythm, and narrative composition do not impose the artist's authority. He seeks to avoid overwhelming the viewer with a direct or didactic statement, allowing questions to remain unanswered. Rather than dictating meaning, he aims to create an environment for the viewer — a situation and a stimulus for reflection.
