Valeria Troubina is a Ukrainian artist. She is part of the artistic circle of the Ukrainian transavant-garde art of the new wave.

Biography of Valeria Troubina

Born in 1966 in Voroshilovgrad (now Luhansk), Valeria’s early years were spent in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, an island city on Sakhalin, before her family returned to Voroshilovgrad in 1974, where she began attending art school.

In 1985, she started studying at the Kyiv State Art Institute, where she met Oleksandr Klymenko and Oleh Holosiy. Two years later, in 1987, she began exhibiting her works.

Following the tragic death of Oleh Holosiy in 1992, she emigrated, first to Edinburgh, Scotland, and later to Chicago, USA. In 1995, she briefly returned to Kyiv, working there for over a year, before returning to the United States. By 1998, she had settled in California. Between 2003 and 2008, she traveled to Hawaii.

The artist’s main art medium is painting. She creates her masterpieces using acrylic paint on canvas. Among Valeria Troubina’s original paintings are “Mermaid with Fish” (1992), “Walk on the Shore” (1989), “Funnel” (2013), “Night Porch” (2009), “Cool of Heaven” (1990), “Fish King” (1991), and many more. Valeria Troubina’s Art Style

The artist explored plastic arts, focusing on pictorial forms. She participated in the Paris Commune art squat and earned the title of "the muse of the Ukrainian trans-avant-garde". By 1998, she began experimenting with themes of consciousness and its borderline states, reflected in her art. After her travels to Hawaii, her interest in landscapes emerged.
