Nickita Tsoy

Nickita Tsoy

Born in Kyiv in 1991, Nickita Tsoy was raised in a creative family. This allowed him to develop his drawing skills within a creative environment that encouraged freedom of self-expression.

He attended two art schools and graduated from the National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture (2010-2016) and the Kyiv Academy of Media Arts (2018-2019).

Nickita Tsoy explores the construction of a historical narrative shaped by the post-ideological climate of recent decades. He views the individual as a vessel of ideological consciousness, examining their inner foundations and the tension between self-acceptance and internal dissonance. His work, rooted in cynical realism, offers a critical perspective on social, political, and cultural issues, with painting as his primary medium.

The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions. Recent solo shows include:

  • "Places where we don't exist" at Pragaleria in Warsaw (2024);
  • "HAMPERDU" at Pragaleria in Warsaw (2019);
  • "HAMPERDU" at White World Gallery in Kyiv (2019);
  • "BODY / SOMA" at Pragaleria in Warsaw (2017).

In addition, Tsoy's works have been featured in group exhibitions, including "Ukrainian Pastoral" at Imagine Point Gallery in Kyiv (2024), "Concentration of Will" at M17 Contemporary Art Center in Kyiv (2023), "Overflow" at Taiten talon Art House in Finland (2023), "Before the War" at the Odesa Fine Arts Museum in Odesa (2022), "Iron Sky" at the Kyiv National Art Gallery (KNAG) in Kyiv (2022), "Don't Close Your Eyes: Ukrainian Artists Respond to the War" in the USA (2022), and many others.
