Biography of Roman Mykhailov

Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, in 1989, Mykhailov received a Master’s degree at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Fine Arts, where he specialized in easel painting. Since 2010, he has been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

Mykhailov’s artistic career is marked by significant achievements and accolades. In 2015, he won the prize for the best installation at Saatchi Gallery, London, in the UK/RAINE competition for emerging artists from the UK and Ukraine. He was also nominated for the prestigious Pinchuk Art Prize in 2016 and 2018, underscoring his growing impact on the contemporary art scene.

Roman Mykhailov has exhibited his works widely in both solo and group exhibitions on national and international platforms. His solo showcases include Culture Week in Tbilisi (2022, 2024), as well as exhibitions at Gallery Forsa, Kyiv (2022) and Swap Gallery, Kyiv (2021). His participation in group exhibitions spans prestigious venues such as the Ukrainian Museum of Contemporary Art and Khanenko Museum in Kyiv (2023); One Point, Paris, and Catinca Tabacaru Gallery, Bucharest (2022); Nord Art, Büdelsdorf, and Non-Stop Media, Kharkiv (2021). Other notable contributions include Letisin, Paris, and Blue Monday at Municipal Gallery Lavra, Kyiv (2019), reflecting his consistent presence in the global scene.
