Sofiia Holubeva
Sofiia Holubeva is a Ukrainian interdisciplinary artist living between Berlin and Odesa.
Born in 1997 in Odesa, she has pursued extensive artistic education. Since 2024, she has been studying Fine Arts at the Berlin University of Arts. Previously, she earned a master’s degree in Monumental Arts from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Kyiv in 2021 and completed a Contemporary Art course at KAMA in Kyiv in 2019. Her artistic foundation was laid at the Grekov Odessa Art College, where she graduated in Painting in 2015.
Holubeva creates site-specific art that combines different media such as paintings, graphics, performances, installations, objects, videos, and mosaics. She focuses on exploring the themes of memory, the impact of war on human life and landscape, and how digitalization affects art. Sofiia is interested in the concepts of home and connection and often involves her family in her projects. The artist explores the history of painting and the role this medium can play today.
An active participant in international exhibitions, residencies, art festivals, and projects, Holubeva has presented her work across Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Germany, Spain, France, Monaco, and other countries. Her art has been featured in prominent publications, including Tagesspiegel, Frankfurter Allgemeine, Mitec, NWZ, Monopol, TAZ, and MorgenPost.
