The war has irreversibly influenced many Ukrainian artists. Among them, Sofia Holubeva, whose life is closely tied to Odesa, stands out for her unique focus on the changing landscape during the invasion. Her primary subject becomes the beach and the transformations of its “body.” For Holubeva, observing and documenting these changes is central to her project "40x20x30."

She captures how the perception of the shoreline shifts—from a place of leisure to a deserted, dangerous, and threatening space on the city’s map. Yet, it has been overtaken by others—wild plants that seem oblivious to the danger.

Interestingly, the project's title refers to the standard dimensions of carry-on luggage. It was in such a suitcase that the artist had to fit all her works. This left a mark not only on her memory but also on the pieces themselves, which had to be bent to fit the suitcase.
