"A Beach", Part 1 of 4
2020, Drawing, Paper, Oil ballpoint pen , Contemporary
The Beach tetraptych opens a new chapter in Nemyrovskyi's practice, where he moves away from creating single works and begins to unfold the world he has created in several parts. The series was inspired by the works of Mykhailo Pedan, a photographer from the Kharkiv School of Photography, who creates panoramic images without strictly observing the linearity of perspective. In the works of the Beach tetraptych, Nemyrovskyi experiments with plans and volume, adding materiality and corporeality to the figures through contrast and lighting.
- In the first work, we see a panorama of Kyiv that can be observed from Trukhaniv Island. In the middle background, people are playing volleyball, and in the foreground we can see a girl with graphic water streams running down her clothes.
- The second work shows people folding into complex geometric shapes. The vacation of Nemyrovskyi and his friends from Odesa on the lake is symbolically transferred to the general panorama of the Dnipro.
- In the third part of the image, the author depicts himself next to a girl in a river. The artwork also depicts the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian people (formerly Peoples' Friendship Arch), a pedestrian bridge between the hills of Kyiv, and the Christian symbols of the cross and a fish.
- The last image of the tetraptych leads to the culminating experience of a hedonistic beach vacation, where people gradually merge into a crowd of bodies.
In Beach, the artist uses various plastic effects, mixes the real and the fictional, creating not only a unique panorama of the city of Kyiv, but also a portrait of his generation.

Daniil Nemyrovskyi's Art Style
The artist creates powerful images through dense strokes, building volumes and tonality with layers of lines. The human body remains central in his works: static, naked figures and bodies twisted into knots, often depicted in a slightly exaggerated way.
As curator and art historian Alya Segal highlighted in her article for Wonderzine, the figures in Nemyrovskyi's work are not conventionally beautiful, but his fascination with certain types of people is unmistakably clear.
The artwork of Daniil Nemyrovskyi from 2022 focuses on themes of war, Mariupol, and the defenders of Azovstal. These pieces serve as tributes, records of memories, and attempts to draw attention to the ongoing war. In his portraits, Nemyrovskyi’s figures bear a closer resemblance to real prototypes, with more detailed depictions of faces and eyes.
