Elmira Shemsedinova, a Ukrainian artist of Crimean Tatar descent, has showcased her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Ukraine and internationally.

Biography of Elmira Shemsedinova
The artist was born in 1989 in Kyiv, Ukraine. She hails from the family of renowned Ukrainian architect I. Shemsedinov.
From 1999 to 2007, she studied at the Taras Shevchenko State Secondary Art School. In 2013, Elmira Shemsedinova graduated from the NAFAA, where she studied at Mykola Storozhenko's monumental painting studio. She also pursued postgraduate studies at the same institution.
Since 2013, she has been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. Elmira Shemsedinova's original paintings have become part of collections in Europe, the USA, and China.
Additionally, the artist is an active participant in art residencies and contemporary art symposia, including Velykyi Pereviz Residency (Ukraine, 2012, 2018), BIRUCHIY Art Residency and Symposium of Contemporary Art (Ukraine, 2016, 2017, 2018), and residency in QL Gallery and Afro-Asian Institute (Austria, 2022), among others. Most recently, in 2023, the artist participated in the "Artists in Residence program", Stieglerhaus – Gemeinnützige, St. Stefan ab Stainz, Austria.
Artwork of Elmira Shemsedinova has also been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Her solo shows include "Last Crimean Album" at the Bereznitsky Foundation Gallery in Kyiv (2017), "Portrait of Sketch" at Invogue Art in Odesa (2019), and "TENSE HORIZON" at the Crimean Tatar Cultural Center in Kyiv (2023).
Currently, the artist lives and works between Kyiv, Ukraine, and Gratz, Austria.

In her art practice, Elmira Shemsedinova explores painting as a language of visual communication, constantly seeking new ways to represent and reinterpret classical painting. Shemsedinova's works include pieces from the Last Crimean Album series, the Tense Horizon series, the Portrait of Sketch series, and the Stop-Frame series, among others.

Elmira Shemsedinova's Art Style
The artist creates both paintings and graphic works in diverse styles and has developed a unique personal approach by employing a technique that imitates watercolor painting using oil paints.
Her "Tense Horizon" is a series of stark, monochromatic seascapes painted from memory. Her other series of works, "The Last Crimean Album", features sketches created during a symbolic trip to the peninsula in 2015. Upon returning to Kyiv, she transformed her watercolor sketches into canvas works. In this series, the artist explores traditional techniques in innovative ways. By manipulating formats and textures, she creates paintings that mimic the translucence of watercolor, with the canvas itself resembling a delicate sheet of paper.
