Svitlana Ahranovska’s Famous Paintings: A Journey Through Her Art
Svitlana Ahranovska’s original paintings include works from the Project "Portrait on the Background of the Landscape" (2021), as well as “Little Boxes. Field” (2019), “Shift” (2019), “Infanta” (2019), “Landscape with a Square Sun” (2018), and many more.
Her “Portrait on the Background of the Landscape” series is dedicated to the theme of the connection between a person and the place they live, with the landscape that constantly surrounds them. It creates an image of a person deeply connected to the landscape, blending into it, so that the facial features nearly disappear, transforming into a part of the landscape itself. Svitlana Ahranovska’s Art Style
The artist works at the intersection of digital and traditional visual art. Her focus lies in exploring the impact of digital gadgets on visual perception. By using classical oil painting techniques to interpret the digital image, she adds an extra layer of meaning—translating one medium into the language of another. Her work seeks to strike a balance between abstraction and figuration.
She worked mainly with painting until 2022. Her field of interest was the visual perception of a person, its features, and its development under the influence of modern people's digital media. The artist also raises the question of how exactly the visual experience of the modern person, which is constantly changing, can interact with such a traditional medium as painting.
After February 2022, she turned to drawing, abandoning color for greater expressiveness and sharpness of images. Ahranovska’s art explores the theme of war and trauma, possibilities of recovery, issues of self-identification, and connection between generations. The artist creates metaphorical images aimed at giving the viewer space to understand certain problems and become a starting point in their own reflections.
