Oleksandr Aksinin was an extraordinary Ukrainian artist whose life, though brief—spanning just 35 years—left an enduring impact. Over 11 years of creative activity, he cultivated a circle of artists in Lviv and abroad who were drawn to his unique perspective on life.

His works frequently explore two of his most profound themes: time and eternity. In this particular piece, which can be seen as a self-portrait, the hourglass symbol appears—a common representation of life's passage that simultaneously serves as the artist's monogram, with a skull at its center.
