Biography of Andrii Roik

The artist was born in 1995. In 2018, he graduated from the Lviv National Academy of Arts, where he studied in the Department of Monumental Painting.

His early career included residencies and plein-air projects abroad: in 2017 he took part in the Live Your Passion residency in Łódź, Poland, followed in 2018 by the V. Patyk Plein Air in Melnyky, Volyn. In 2019 he undertook the Istanbul Artist Residency in Istanbul, Turkey, and joined a plein air for young artists in Wiśniowa, Poland. He also participated in Kyiv Art Week in both 2018 and 2019.

His solo exhibition practice began in 2019 with Body at Karas Gallery in Kyiv, followed in 2020 by Conjuncture, also at Karas Gallery. In 2021 he presented Comfort Zone at Detector Gallery in Ivano-Frankivsk, and in 2022, Voice at the Olena Kulchytska Museum in Lviv. In 2025 he presented Between the Cracks at the Center for Contemporary Art in Zaporizhzhia.

Alongside these, Andrii has participated in several group exhibitions. In 2020, his work was included in the Nord Art contemporary art exhibition in Büdelsdorf, Germany, and in 2021 in Independently/Exit at the Lviv Street Gallery.

In 2022, he returned to the Istanbul Artist Residency for the group exhibition Home, and also joined the international exhibition project The Captured House, supported by Port Agency. More recently, Andrii Roik's paintings and graphics were featured in Little Body at the Lviv Municipal Arts Centre and Oasis at the Palace of Arts, both in Lviv in 2025.
