Harvest Gifts

Halyna Zoria was a renowned artist, a master of still lifes and genre paintings.

An artist and participant in national Ukrainian exhibitions (since 1947) and international exhibitions (since 1976). Halyna Zoria’s paintings are preserved in museums across Ukraine as well as in private collections in Europe, the United States, and Asia.

The artist was born on September 14, 1915, in the city of Yenakiieve. She studied at the Kyiv Art Institute from 1932 to 1933, 1935 to 1938, and 1945 to 1946. During her studies, she absorbed the knowledge and experience of such teachers as Mykhailo Boichuk, Vasyl Sedliar, Pavlo Volodykin, Oleksii Shovkunenko, and others.

Her diploma work was the painting “Meeting of the Victors in Sofiyska Square in Kyiv.”

In 1946, she joined the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. From 1945 to 1952, she taught at the Taras Shevchenko Republican Art Secondary School.

She participated in all-Ukrainian exhibitions from 1947 and in all-Union exhibitions from 1951. In 1955, her works were exhibited in Poland. Her solo showcase took place in Kyiv in 1960.

Her husband was the artist Petro Sliota, and their children—daughters—also devoted their lives to art.

Halyna Zoria passed away in 2002 in Kyiv.

She worked in the field of easel painting, creating still lifes and genre scenes.

Among Halyna Zoria’s original paintings are “Hurzuf,” “Peonies” (1962), “Youth” (1951), “Chestnuts” (1967), “White Roses” (1972), “Red Flowers” (1976), and many others.

UFDA digitized the artist’s work “Harvest Gifts” (1988) from the collection of the Borshchiv Regional Municipal Museum of Local History. This work is now available to a wide audience in the highest resolution on the fund’s website.
