Memento Mori in Topiary Garden

Aleksei Bordusov, also known as Aec Interesni Kazki, is a renowned Ukrainian artist celebrated for his captivating visual imagery. 

Aleksei Bordusov’s artworks are vibrant and thought-provoking. The artist draws inspiration from a diverse range of themes, including science, religion, mythology, and cosmology. Often rich in color, his pieces are frequently complemented by black and white drawings.

Aleksei Bordusov was born in 1980 in Kyiv, Ukraine. He developed his foundational drawing and painting skills during his studies in architecture at the Art Academy. Upon graduating, he realized that a career in architecture wasn't his calling, and he chose to focus solely on art. 

In the late 1990s, he began painting on the streets of Kyiv as part of a graffiti crew. However, after several years, he grew tired of the medium. 

In 2005, Aec partnered with Waone to create works that moved beyond traditional graffiti lettering. Drawing inspiration from global murals, especially those from Brazil, Aec and Waone formed the Interesni Kazki duo, renowned for their distinctive style in contemporary muralism. 

Fusing science fiction, fantasy, and Ukrainian cultural traditions, they crafted a dreamlike universe populated by enigmatic figures. After over a decade of successful collaboration and numerous street pieces, the duo parted ways in May 2016, with both Aec and Waone pursuing their artistic journeys as solo creators.

Since then, Aleksei Bordusov has showcased his art in numerous solo and group exhibitions, as well as participated in various projects. Among them are the Exomusee mural project in Le Locle, Switzerland (2023), the Street Art for Mankind mural project in Houston, USA (2023), the group exhibition "Night Birds" at Maia Contemporary Gallery in Mexico City (2022), the solo exhibition "Victoria" at AG18 Gallery in Vienna, Austria (2022), and many more.

Currently, the artist lives in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, where he continues to create.

Throughout his artistic journey, Aleksei has honed his technical skills, evolving from stylized works to more realistic, surreal, and anatomical imagery, with a strong emphasis on color, its shades, and forms.

The artist’s oeuvre includes murals, paintings, drawings, and prints. Aleksei Bordusov’s original paintings include The Seventh Trumpet and Primordial Travelers, Mysterious Event in The Valley, Somnia Belli, Memento Mori in Topiary Garden, and many more.

His drawings and prints include Day & Night, Haunted House, Perception of the Unknowable, The Lovers' Dance, and The Birth of a Supernova, among others.

The artist has experimented with various techniques. However, he discovered that the traditional paintbrush method offers him greater creative possibilities. Today, he primarily works with brushes and acrylic paints on murals. The majority of his time is devoted to studio work, where he creates on canvases and paper using acrylics, watercolor, ink, and oil paints. 

Through his striking artworks, Aec Interesni Kazki showcases his exceptional ability to create allegorical and figurative pieces that invite interpretation without relying on direct imagery. This allows viewers to engage with the work freely, interpreting it in their own way, guided by their imagination. 

Aleksei Bordusov views art creation as "an opportunity to understand mystical reasons of The Universe" while rediscovering themes ranging from science and history to religion and mythology in his own unique style.
