Yuriy Bolsa’s Art Style
His artistic practice began with self-inflicted imprisonment in the apartment, which lasted for 6 years. So, the artist works with personal stories, dominated by loneliness, self-destruction, and research of the surrounding society through the prism of alienation.
After moving to Kyiv, the artist began to work more with socio-political problems that resonated with his injuries. The main direction is the theme of destruction and changes that lead to the emergence of something new. His works also include a big project about his hometown, Chervonohrad. The main concept is glorifying this place, and at the same time, it serves as a series of self-portraits.
