Vitalii Kravets, in his characteristic ironic and even sarcastic manner, plays with meanings and images in his series "Anatomy of Invertebrates." The method and context of the series’ creation are closely tied to the full-scale invasion, as Kravets worked on each piece during air raids in the Soviet-style atmosphere of an unfamiliar apartment.

Cuttings from yellowed newspaper headlines inspired the creation of "invertebrate" representatives and images of Russian culture. As the artist himself notes, “Spinelessness is an inherent trait of totalitarianism.” Through his ironic depictions of the "heroes" of hostile culture, Kravets warns against falling into its traps once again.
