Leonid Fashchenko was a painter of lyrical landscapes. His primary focus was to convey the mood and the state of nature. Leonid Fashchenko’s paintings flowed with colors possessing an infinite number of shades. While maintaining a plein-air quality in his depiction of light and air, the artist achieved a harmonious integrity and a grand, metaphorical depth.

He participated in republic-level exhibitions starting in 1963. The artist’s works are held in the Zaporizhzhia Art Museum, as well as in numerous private collections throughout Ukraine and abroad.
Biography of Leonid Fashchenko
The artist was born on August 17, 1937, in Zaporizhzhia. From 1952 to 1957, he studied at the Dnipro Art College, after which he completed his compulsory military service in the Soviet Army.
Beginning in 1963, the artist became a regular participant in republic-level exhibitions.
A lifelong resident of Zaporizhzhia, he lived and worked in the city until his death in 2010.
The artwork of Leonid Fashchenko is preserved in museums across Ukraine, while a vast number of his pieces remain highly sought after in private collections both at home and abroad.

The artist worked in easel painting, with a primary focus on the landscape genre. His notable works include: "Spring" (1969), "Willows Turning Green" (1979), "Bayda Island" (1985), "Slavutych" (1987), and "Khortytsia Island" (1989).
